I create work that explores contemporary sociopolitical issues through the recontextualization of language and imagery. My work draws from historical, contemporary, and personal sources, including documents like the Bill of Rights, newspaper reports, 911 calls, and my photographic work. Words, phrases, and images are altered and removed from their original context to form new narratives.

Every project begins as a dialogue between the idea and the material, and I select the methods and surfaces that best express it. This flexible, exploratory approach often leads me to work with unconventional materials—such as blackboards and baseball caps—while incorporating diverse techniques, including free-motion embroidery, printmaking, and digital fabrication. Each piece is an opportunity to push boundaries and experiment with new ways of making and seeing, showcasing the innovation and creativity in my work.

My artwork is a fusion of craft and conceptual art, with a sewing machine serving as a central element in creating many pieces. I've developed a unique sewing approach that I compare to painting with thread. I employ the free-motion embroidery method, facilitated by a specialized sewing machine foot that allows for unrestricted fabric movement. The resulting surfaces are vibrant, as the back-and-forth motion of the thread creates thick, saturated areas of color and subtly distorts the fabric. This distortion is particularly compelling as it reveals the maker's hand, resisting the uniformity of perfection. The use of free-motion embroidery in this manner demands significant effort. The time I invest in each piece reflects the deep connection with the subject and the materials and is integral to contributing to exploring complex social and political issues.
